Updates for the end of December 2025-January 2026.
Updated the Sovereign Web Resource page.
Added Dither Image Online to the Sovereign Web Resource page under the Image Tools section.
Merged Sovereign Web About & Join page.
I’m currently in the process of moving the Free Speech Webring over to my Sovereign Web subdomain so I want to compress things on that subdomain a little bit. I’m going to try and make the transition as smooth as possible and hopefully nobody will have to change anything on their sites this time. I know that gets annoying and really don’t want to email people to do that again. Anyways, I wanted to merge the about/join page together for the Sovereign Web Ring, and just keep the member directory on the front page. Previously I had the member directory on both the about page and the front page, which seemed redundant and I always had to update both pages every time someone new joined. This change just seemed more efficient and made sense.
Updated webring rules for the Sovereign Web Ring and Free Speech Webrings.
I’ve had several applications that past couple months of NSFW sites applying for the webrings that had clearly illegal and legally questionable content on their websites. I don’t have many rules in these webrings because I don’t think it’s my place to tell people what they should or shouldn’t say or post on their own sites. That’s kind of the whole point of having these webrings in the first place, is to be more liberating of a space. But I absolutely am not going to be a host to anyone who shares illegal content. It’s wild the amount of people that don’t seem to get that even fictional content that sexualizes minors is still considered child pornography and is illegal in many jurisdictions. It’s still sexually fetishizing children, whether it’s real or not. And in the jurisdictions where it isn’t flat out illegal, it’s still a very big legal grey area. Don’t believe me, look up the laws. It’ll likely differ depending on states but here in Canada, erotic fiction involving children under age does fall under child pornography and is illegal. Anyhow, I’ve put in a few extra safe guards to deter pedophiles from applying.
Site Restructuring & future plans
I’ve slowly been starting to move my Town and Cottage subdomain content to my primary domain. I think I might have mentioned this in my last update but I’m trying to save space on my server, and lately I’ve really been wanting to make a gaming subdomain where I can write cozy gaming reviews and have a dedicated space for Tamagotchi resources. Preserving personal aspects of my website is important to me, but I also want to create spaces where I might be able to go further with it and even monetize it. I’ve worked in retail a long time and quite frankly, it’s not something I want to do the rest of my life. I hate working in retail, and while I’m thankful it helps to pay the bills, I feel like it’s a waste of my life. I’m not doing anything of value there, being there doesn’t fulfill my spirit. I’ve stayed stagnant in retail for far too long. If I ever want to get out of that, I need to create opportunities for myself, and preferably, doing things that genuinely spark joy. I do have an Etsy shop that is starting to take off. I’ve been making consistent sales on it so far but it has a long way to go before it becomes a full time gig. I think I can expand this potential to work from home with my site as well. And no, that doesn’t mean I’m going to be plastering ads all over my site. The personal aspects of my site will be staying personal. But I want to create room to add on to my website, and potentially monetize those spaces. So if I make a gaming subdomain, it will likely be set up to allow for monetization.
In addition to all of this, I’m also removing my Emporium subdomain. I never actually did anything with it. I had plans to start up a personal web shop but that never fully solidified sadly. But it was something I was always really unsure would be successful anyways. I didn’t have enough ideas for it.
Town & Cottage subdomains merged with primary domain
I’ve started the process of moving my town and cottage subdomains over to my primary domain. Still an ongoing work in progress.
Fixed blog post formatting & archive styling.
Someone mentioned my font was hard to read so I’ve fixed this. I had a feeling it wasn’t a great idea but I really loved the aesthetic of hand written letters. But ultimately, I’d rather my blog posts be legible. I’ve also fixed the styling for my blog archive pages. There were a few I forgot to style properly, so those look a bit better now.
I wish I had more time to get things done more quickly around here, but, I suppose small updates are better than no updates. I’m still dedicating a lot of my time to my growing Etsy shop, which has so far been doing really well! It remains a priority in my life at the moment but I’m still around here doing things, even though it’s at a much slower pace than before.
Hope everyone’s January has been well! See you next month 🙂
