Revamping Candace for my Small Web subdomain! Yes, it is originally AI generative art. I’m not an illustrator unfortunately, I can’t draw for crap. However, I can edit fairly well so I have changed her considerably to suit my intentions for her, and I think in order to use AI generative art in an ethical way, this is something that needs to be done. I am not against AI generative art. I think it AI is a great tool that allows people who don’t have the skill to achieve things they wouldn’t be able to otherwise. However, I do have a couple issues with it, I wholeheartedly disagree with AI being trained on artists work who didn’t consent to their work being trained on, and I also disagree that we should let AI do everything for us. I think AI works fabulously as a tool to help us be more productive, but I also think it can enable people to become lazy, or use it unethically. But I don’t see it as inherently evil like a lot of people do. I think whether it is a positive or negative thing really depends on how it is used. The tool itself isn’t bad, but moreso the people who use it and how they use it. Just like a knife isn’t inherently bad. It can be used as a tool to create artistic wood carvings, it can be used as a utensil to eat with, or it can be used to cause bodily harm to someone. If the knife causes harm to someone, it isn’t the knife’s fault and we shouldn’t ban all knives because someone used it to cause bodily harm to another. It is the person’s fault who used the knife to cause harm. That is how I see AI. So as I navigate using it, my goal isn’t necessarily to stop using it altogether. I consider how I can use it ethically, and how I can use it to boost my own creativity. I know there are still going to be people out there who are vehemently against AI, especially generative AI, and that is okay. To each their own. But I don’t think it is going anywhere and the technology is going to continue to advance. I think instead of rejecting it altogether, we’d be a lot more productive moving forward with it and setting solid standards and defining ethical and unethical uses of it.

Anyhow, this is the new Candace. The first picture is what I started with, the other pictures are my modifications that I’ll animate as she says her various dialogues. I’m very happy with how these turned out. 🙂
