Someone emailed me last night and let me know there’s a rumour floating around that I’m a Qanon conspiracy theorist, so I’ve decided to make my email reply back to them an open letter and just post it here addressing it for anyone who might be interested.

“I’m definitely not a Qanon conspiracy theorist, that is false. Some of my beliefs do align with the Qanon crowd I suppose in the sense I do carry some right-leaning political views, but I also carry some left-leaning political views too. It really depends on the topic but for a lot of things I’m really not 100% for or against and stand more towards the center. I believe a lot of compromises can be made on both sides for various topics and that both sides have a lot more in common than they think they do, but people often get really hung up about how things get done, because the how can be really conflicting sometimes and a lot of people aren’t open to compromises so everyone can be happy.
To be a bit more specific though as to why those rumors are likely floating around about me being a Qanon conspiracy theorist, when I first joined the Small Web movement I was still very politically angsty from all the chaos that happened during 2020-2022. That time period was pretty traumatic for a lot of people for different reasons and I joined the Small Web movement in early 2023, just after things started to finally calm down. My headspace was still kind of winding down from fight or flight mode and I wanted to use part of my website as just a space to vent my political frustrations and tell my story a bit and my perception of what went on during 2020-2022.
Human trafficking was one of the things I spoke up about on my site, which would align with the Qanon conspiracy crowd, but these days it’s become a lot less conspiracy theory as the stuff about Jeffrey Epstein’s Island has come out, the P Diddy stuff, a lot of it has surfaced beyond the point of conspiracy “theory” over the past couple years and become public knowledge in mainstream media, but it was something I believed before it came out in the media, and was something shared a lot by the Qanon crowd back then, was the Hollywood pedo rings and human trafficking stuff.

I also stood up against a lot of the covid measures that took place and shared about that. Before things started getting better, there was a point here in Canada that anyone who chose not to get the covid shots were going to start getting banned from getting groceries. I remember a city market a few cities over had announced that anyone who didn’t get the shot wouldn’t be able to get groceries in their establishment and that was the tipping point for a lot of people. A huge protest was going to be rallied there, both pro and anti-covid vax folks were banding together over that measure because things were being taken way too far. I just felt a lot of very corrupt measures were taking place in the guise of public health and safety. There was also a lot of fear that these measures weren’t temporary. It wouldn’t be the first time the government said something would be temporary and became permanent (income tax, to name one example).
I care a lot about freedom – it’s one of the reasons why I made the Free Speech Webring. At the end of the day, despite what I believe about the covid stuff, I respect everyone’s personal decision to either get it (the vax) or not get it, but I’m strongly against coercion through limiting people’s freedom, taking away people’s livelihoods, barring people from essential goods and services, etc for making a personal choice that made them feel safe. ♥️ I hope that makes sense, and I hope you won’t think less of me even if you disagree with that perception. What is in the past is in the past now, and my hope is that we can all just move forward from it and find our center again. Everyone felt what they were doing at the time was the right thing, and all of our hearts were in the right place – whether you stood with the people out there protesting or were in support of public health and safety measures, we all had the common goal of trying to keep our loved ones and our communities safe – the perception on how to go about that was just different. Like I said earlier, we all have a lot more in common than we think we do, we often have the same overall goals in mind, but it’s the going about it that can be really conflicting sometimes, and that’s just part of what comes with the reality of living in a world with billions of people who hold billions of different perceptions in combination with the mass population having very poor communication and conflict resolution skills – including myself sometimes.

Anyways, I posted a lot about the covid stuff as well back then, which a lot of people likely read and made them come to the conclusion I’m a Qanon conspiracy theorist. Some of my views do align with theirs, sure, but I’d say it’s a very small handful and are moreso simply views that would be generally identified with the right-leaning crowd than strictly Qanon.
I know that’s pretty long winded but I wanted to be transparent about it all and hope that answers your question. 🙂 Thanks for coming to me and asking me directly instead of depending on rumors. These days, I’m a lot less politically angsty and had a lot of time to calm down and mellow out. I’m no longer living in fight or flight mode. I removed my political section from my site awhile ago and don’t follow politics as much anymore. I’m tired of fighting with the world and have accepted there are things that are out of my control, and my time is better spent focusing on the things I can control in my immediate reality as well as what brings me peace. ♥️”
