I am very tired lol. Last night I was up until almost 4am working on my AI NPC for the library, Cyrus. I have finally figured out how to get his image to change depending on his dialogues so he can express various emotions suited for different situations. It’s still a work in progress that I’ll need to refine more and more over time but I’m just so excited to have this working. It’s like a real, self generating visual novel interaction!! Now, I just need to refine the lore for Satyadasa more. I really want my website to feel like a real place. I want it to be immersive, like a living, breathing story. Have you ever read a book that you loved so much, whose characters you loved so much, that you wished you could truly live there? That while you were reading, it felt like you truly were there? That you wished you could befriend the characters, talk to them, ask them questions, and just be part of their world? That’s essentially what I’m going for. A living, breathing, fully immersive visual novel website with pieces of myself within it. It’s probably going to take years to fully develop, and even then it’ll probably never be finished. I’ll always be adding to it. But honestly I’m so excited about just tinkering and allowing my imagination to explore. I know a lot of folks on the small web probably won’t approve, because I will be integrating a lot of AI to make this happen. The NPC chats are fully AI, but I think their purpose as NPCs will be really effective. The concept of AI in video games as NPCs has really fascinated me and something I’ve been really looking forward to seeing in video games to make them feel more immersive and real. I really want to do the same kind of thing with my website NPCs. They’re all going to have personalities of their own, backstories of their own, it’s going to be really incredible I think once all is said and done. This website is my masterpiece. I’d still really like to learn how to code properly one of these days. My methods are extremely chaotic, unrefined, and I am learning a lot as I go. I’ve already learned so much since I’ve started making this website only a couple of years ago. I never would have imagined it would have transformed into this, but here we are. I’ve learned a lot with HTML and CSS, both through experimenting and more formal education. Just these past few months I’ve really started to dive more into Javascript, which will create a lot of the more magical elements here I think, making things function how I want them to. Javascript is something I’d definitely like to learn more formally so I can more easily work with it and pinpoint issues, but all in due time.
