Bit of a rough day yesterday. My parents lost their dog of 14 years. She had heart issues since the beginning of the year and went downhill really quickly. She had an episode a couple days ago and yesterday was really struggling so it was time to have her euthanized. They’ve had her since I was still in high school, she was such a part of our family. We’re all going to really miss her. When you lose someone or something you love it really makes you realize just how short life really is. Especially with animals. Gotta love them as much as we can while they’re with us.
After we left her at the vet, we all went home and I stopped at the store to get Stewey his favorite bone and a cookie. I can’t wait until we have our own home and a yard that he can run around and live a bit more. It’s hard when you live in a small apartment. We have a back yard technically, but the upstairs neighbors let their dogs loose in it a lot and they aren’t the friendliest. I’m afraid to let our little guy out there because I don’t want him to get hurt. Hopefully won’t be too much longer before we have our own place and get to let him out more.

On to other things, I had a pretty positive day today! I got a glowing performance review from my managers at work which felt really nice. I also recently got promoted and things are really looking up at work. 🙂 Feeling really happy there. Love my coworkers and my customers. It’s getting to the point I’m starting to go by a first name basis with a lot of my customers. Some will come up and remind me of previous conversations we’ve had, and we’ll catch up on life haha. I really enjoy interacting with the people there, all around really good vibes.

Overall this year has been a bit of a roller coaster with really high highs and really low lows and I’m kind of looking forward to it being over tbh. The Canadian election is also coming up and I’ve decided I’m not going to bother voting anymore because voting doesn’t truly fix anything imo. I don’t trust the government (any of them) and the only way I see real change taking place is through community-based solutions; people getting more involved in helping our local communities and working together in solving the problems ourselves. Food getting unaffordable? We can create community gardens, community fridges, and start supporting local wherever we can. Normalize trading/bartering again. Set up more Little Free Libraries. Organize more local markets. Teach artisan skills, gardening skills, food preservation skills,m husbandry, culinary, etc. and trade those skills with each other. I truly belive the way to crumble the pyramid is not through their systems – voting being one of them, which I firmly believe is just an illusion of choice. If we create community-based solutions I think we can effectively disintegrate the pyramid from the bottom up. Learn and start making use of the things they DON’T teach us in school. That’s the way forward.

Anyways, that’s it for updates today. 🙂 Bit of mixed emotions, lots of ups and downs but I know things will level out more soon.
