Just finished harvesting my grow tower in preparation for moving. We are moving all of our things downstairs and I need to clean the tower before that happens and it’s quite a job. 😅 So I might not do that today. Harvesting everything already took a little while. I had a lot of basil that flowered, so I tied them up and hung them to dry out in hopes I can harvest their seeds in a week or two.

In relation to my last post, I’m contemplating shifting my ‘garden’ section into an actual gardening section where I record and post my processes and what I’m learning about homesteading and self sufficiency. I’ve known we were headed this direction since around 2020, but I think now more than ever with how expensive things are getting, it’s important to start actively learning these things and put them into practice. And if it can help out anyone who comes across my site, then all the better. And you don’t have to have a lot of money or even a lot of space to grow food. If you live in an apartment you can still grow lots of veggies! A few years ago before I moved back to my hometown, we moved into an apartment that got lots of light and sun, so I set up a table in front of the balcony and went crazy with planting. It was also my first year growing cherry tomatoes and I had no idea how big they got and I planted like 30 of them. They may have taken over our apartment. 🤣 But we always had lots of tomatoes!

Gardening is really rewarding though. Apart from it feeling more and more like a necessity for the average joe, it’s a really calming activity, helps you relax and slow down. I really do think working with plants is healing in our fast paced society. If anyone’s looking to start getting into gardening or homesteading, there is so much great learning material over on Pinterest – highly recommend using it as an information tool for this topic.
