Already found a new job! Well, it isn’t technically mine yet, but it’s a sure thing if I want it. I have another interview tomorrow somewhere else so I told them I’d let them know for sure by Friday if I’ll take it. But the fact I already have a job lined up is such a relief. I feel like I can breathe now and not stress about bills or the outcome of other interviews. It’s a pretty secure job too if I take it, and even better, it isn’t minimum wage. But we’ll see how the interview tomorrow goes, what they’re offering, and the vibe I get from the management at the next place. It’s important to feel out your potential employer when interviewing. A lot of businesses think because they’re the ones hiring, they have the upper hand and get their pick of anyone they want in the hiring pool, but if you’re a good employee and know your worth, it’s as much of an interview for them as it is for you, because you don’t want to end up somewhere where you’ll be mistreated, undervalued or taken advantage of. I’ve been to a few interviews where I could tell right off the bat I would not be happy working there based solely on the tone and mannerisms of the person interviewing me, and how they described the job. Another good tip I’ve learned is if you’re waiting to be interviewed and have a chance to make small talk with the employees, ask them how they like working there and make small talk about the business. It’s a great way to get a feel for how the business is run and how happy people are working there before interviewing with management.
