Hope everyone had a great Christmas/Holiday! Hubby and I went Boxing Day shopping yesterday and lucked out an a ton of really great movies. We’re gradually building up our physical media collections as we’re done with subscription services and really don’t see the point in paying a high monthly subscription for something when we usually rewatch the same movies and TV shows most of the time. We also really like the idea of having a physical media collection, something tangible. Neither of us are really happy that everything is going digital these days. Personally, if I buy something, I want to own it. If I could physically own my entire Steam collection of games, I would. The closer we move towards everything going digital, the closer we get to WEF’s prediction of owning nothing by 2030, and that’s not a future I’ll ever be happy with or supportive of. One of these days I’ll take a picture of our growing media collection. We’re going to need proper storage for it at some point as well. We’ll invest in something practical once we move though. At the present, DVD movies are really undervalued. I think most people are using subscription services these days. And as much as it sucks that things are becoming more digital, I love that we are able to get all our movies at pawn shops for $1 each. Even bluerays aren’t that expensive. They cost a tad more than just regular DVDs do but not by too much. I don’t really care either way if we get DVD or blueray though, honestly. Just as long as the disc is in good playable shape.

We also stopped at Chapters in a neighboring city (this was our first stop) and I lucked out on so many great books! They had a sale for 30% off all hardcovers, so I bought my last two missing books for ACOTAR and Crescent City to complete my series. I also got Fall of Ruin & Wrath and the collector’s Edition of Never Never by Colleen Hoover – all for under $100. I found a couple other great books as well at thrift shops; a Collector’s Edition of Morrighan by Mary E Pearson, and another one which I can’t remember the name of but it looked interesting. I’m going to *try* and up my reading goal next year so I can start getting through all of these books, but if I can’t, I’m perfectly happy with maintaining my 24 books/year goal. I think that keeps a pretty good balance for me and my other hobbies (aka primarily, managing this site lol).

Speaking of which, the last thing I got on boxing day was a new external hard drive, which I want to primarily use for storing my website backups and everything to do with this site. Should anything ever happen to the servers my site is hosted on, or my site ever get hacked, or whatever else, I just want to have a backup of everything handy so I don’t lose years of hard work and development. I love this space. It’s like a garden in which I tend to that keeps growing. I love it and it will always be special to me to have this space. ♥
