I finally have all my Christmas gifts crafted. I have a bit of extra time this evening so I’m started to flesh out the lore of Satyadasa and the characters here. I absolutely love how it’s coming along and really reveals the truth of why I created this website to begin with, but described in a more fantasy-like way. I’m using the program Fantasia to develop everything. It’s such an awesome program for organizing worlds, characters, and story building. I got it originally when I was intending to write a book a few months back, but ended up scrapping that idea. So now, I will use it to write the story of this ‘realm’. To make it more solid, more immersive, more real.
.
I’ve also been kind of foggy on how I wanted to describe my ‘character’ in all of this. At first when Satyadasa was born, I titled myself as the mayor and Satyadasa was just a town, but now I’m kind of leaning towards making Satyadasa an entire realm. It’s own universe of sorts – because technically, it is. My website isn’t really going to be just a website. It’s really its own world, and so I think it’s only fitting that my character be a ‘realm weaver’. The monarch title might stick for more administrative roles, but ultimately, ‘realm weaver’ seems the most suitable, because this will be a ‘realm’ in its own right. It already is a realm now, it just isn’t fleshed out yet. I can be whatever I want to be here. It’s my fictional world, after all!
.
Anyhow, I’m really enjoying the process of this creation and it’s weirdly something I feel excited to talk about and work on whenever I have the time. I don’t think I’ve ever had a consistent hobby that I’ve felt so passionate about for so long, but my website has been something that consistently sparks my imagination and makes me excited – thinking about all the things I can do with it and what it can become. I think for the most part, people just think of websites as being something you can just blog in, use as a digital scrap book, or use for business. How many people actually use their websites to act as an entire fictional world of their own? I haven’t come across too many, to be honest. The closest I’ve seen are web based virtual pet games, but not so much personal websites. The only one I’ve seen that kind of comes close is angelinmyhead.nekoweb.org and marigold.town. They seem like they’re going for a sort of similar vibe, and marigold.town was actually what inspired the restructuring of my website to be this way in the first place. Maybe a lot more sites exist like this that are similar but I just haven’t really seen them yet. I’d love to come across others who are doing the same thing or something similar! It’d be so cool to see more people using website to create their own digital realms, roleplaying their own fictional worlds, creating stories, making their sites feel like a living, breathing, place that people can visit and interact with. I just think it’s a really cool way to get to know someone and a really unique way to explore someone’s imagination! ♥
