Crafting tonight! I have 15 more co-workers to make Christmas gifts for. This is why I started working on this back in August lol. There’s so many!! Next year if I’m still working in a big store, I think I’ll just stick with getting everyone cards. I love crafting but I think I may have bit off a bit more than I can chew. But I still have another month and a half to get them all finished so I’m sure it will be fine. I’ll just do a few every day and I’ll be done in no time!

I’ve been working on my site a lot the past few weeks as well. I’ll cover everything in my monthly Town updates soon, but I added a smallweb subdomain that will have all of my resources, blog posts, and everything small web related that I’m hoping will serve as a great resource to newcomers. I’m going to *attempt* to start a Pinterest and start “marketing” my blog posts on there eventually. I’d love to help give the Small Web more exposure, and I think in order to do that, it’s going to require putting the word out about it on the ‘Big Web’. I love this movement and really want to share it with others. I want people to know about it and understand the freedom owning your own space on the web gives you over big tech social media. And I want to find website builders that don’t require code and are so easy to use that my parents could figure it out – and anyone without any technical know-how can make a site of their own. That’s ultimately the goal of that space. I want it to be a really great entry point for new comers to explore the small web for the first time and be able to dive in with no prior knowledge or skill. I think it would appeal to a lot more people that way rather than the current demographic of amateur and advanced coders/designers. I think the Small Web appeals to people who already know a bit of coding and design, but probably won’t appeal to people who don’t know anything more than the standard of social media they’ve become accustomed to. So for those people, I really think we need to develop ways and gather resources to help accommodate the larger demographic of people if the Small Web is to ever make it on the map for solid alternatives to social media. It needs to be more accessible to everyone, not just to the code/design hipsters.

In other news, I got a call back from my doctor and I have a heel spur that’s about half a centimeter, which is fun. He’s going to try and set me up with seeing a surgeon to have it fixed, though, I’m doing what I can in the mean time to try and fix it. In addition to trying to lose weight, I got myself a pair of really good Hoka shoes for work. They’re supposed to be one of the best shoes you can get for heel spurs and plantar fasciitis. Already I can feel some of the strain alleviated from wearing them so it’s helping. I also got some foot roller balls to use while I sit at my computer, and a deep tissue massage gun. So far they all seem to be helping. I definitely don’t have it as bad as some. I know for some people, walking is excruciating. Most of the time my heel just feels tender, kind of like constantly poking at a bruise. More of an annoyance rather than something that cripples me. I wish I could afford to just take time off work for awhile to focus on healing it and losing weight in ways that don’t put strain on it. Maybe I could if we didn’t have our car payments, but at least until we get our vehicle paid off, I really can’t afford to take any kind of medical leave.

Anyways, I think that’s pretty well it for now. Time to get back to crafting my co-workers Christmas presents. I hope they like them. 🙂
