Feeling a bit discouraged today about my new position. While I am so thankful it has secured me a few more hours, last night I realized the extent of how much more work and responsibility it is going to be, and I gotta be honest… without the pay raise I am not sure that it’s really going to be worth it in the long run. I feel like with all the additional responsibilities that is given for that role and the amount of juggling that needs to be done, it is really wrong that a pay raise is not included with the promotion. I am not entirely sure what I am going to do yet, because I love the people I work with, but I’m just not sure the additional responsibilities and added stress is worth it without proper compensation for it. But if I don’t stay in this position, I know I will lose hours due to self checkouts recently being implemented. If I don’t keep the position I feel like the next realistic alternative is to look for a new job. I may just try and stick with it for now though until we move next year just for the experience. If I can get used to it, it could be my foot in the door to apply for other supervisor positions after we move. And ideally, I would love to be a supervisor at a clothing store. I like working in clothing, and a supervisor role in clothing would be a lot less stressful than the current industry I work in. Also, I haven’t seen clothing stores implementing self checkout yet so that market may be safe from it for a little while longer. I can only hope! I also would love to work in a book store. Either clothing or books, I’d be really happy in.
