Sometimes what appears to be light is actually dark, and what appears to be dark is actually light. Spiritual movements and religion I think often distorts and neglects the shadow. It’s dark, ugly, often misunderstood and feared. In Christianity when the shadow surfaces, it’s viewed as an attack from satan or “the enemy”. In general spirituality it is often shoved down and avoided, because the key to ‘ascension’ is maintaining a high frequency… or toxic positivity. The shadow is probably one of the best teachers. Being able to acknowledge your own darkness, sit with your darkness, face and make friends with your inner demons is not an easy thing to do, and not something many people will see as positive, but you can’t truly be light without facing your darkness. I’m still working with mine. There’s still a lot I need to heal, but I’m proud of how far I’ve come in just a few years and thankful for this teacher.
