There are so many homeless where I live. It should be illegal to throw away food. Food is usually always good at least a few days past expiration, some even for months past expiration. Stores should mark down things that are close to expiration, and whatever doesn’t sell should be free at the end of the day rather than thrown away. If you need to get folks to sign a waiver since the food is close to expiration, people would be fine doing it, but god… don’t throw it in the garbage. I hate how wasteful businesses are. It’s an issue that goes far beyond grocery too, but grocery is definitely one of the worst, considering we need food to live and there are so many who are without.
